How to create a bonsai tree from a nursery juniper, part one. We start with a five gallon nursery juniper, clean out undergrowth, and prune it down to three trunks, to make a three trunk raft style juniper bonsai. Part Two deals with wiring and shaping. Part Three deals with wiring branches and potting the tree in a bonsai pot.

In Part One we took a nursery juniper and pruned it down to three usable trunks. In Part Two we wire the trunks and do some rough pruning to create the bonsai tree.

In Part Three, the finale, we wire and trim the branches, and we pot our juniper bonsai tree in a bonsai pot. Note: we potted this tree in July just to do the video, and it will need some special attention to survive the hot weather. DO NOT cut roots in hot weather, unless you are working on a ficus, bougainvillea or other tropical variety of tree.
