I have a Azalea plant and its not a bonzi or a tree. How can I get it to grow tall?

I bought my Azalea plant from a grocery store, and It’s not a tree or a bonsai. I bought it for $5.00, and I think it might be a dwarf but it just say’s Azalea on it. My plant is 6 inches tall and looks healthy, it does get some red leaves but not too many. Would it be possible to grow it as tall as a tree? and What can I do to allow it grow taller?

Thank you.

You probably bought what is called a florists’ azalea. It, along with many other kinds of azaleas will never grow tall. Often florists’ azaleas do not survive at all. You must have a green thumb to keep it alive.

wait three years for it to mature… if it’s potted it will not ‘grow tall’… only outside and then only if it’s not a Dwarf type azalea….
