BONSAI-EASY NEW METHOD-PART 6-TRIM MING TREE
SHORT VIDEO SHOWING THE TRIMMING OF A SMALL MING TREE. I had gotten a grouping of four Ming tree trunks as one planting which I split up. This is one of the plants that I took from that grouping. Ming trees grow really nicely and you have to repot them fairly often as they grow so vigorously. (May, 2008- showing traditional bonsai at the Morikami Museum. It’s just a silent look at their trees, but it is inspiring)(”Morikami Bonsai Gardens May 2008″).(***PLEASE VIEW PART 12 ABOUT THE WARNING ON HANDLING SPHAGNUM MOSS BEFORE YOU WORK WITH SPHAGNUM MOSS***).

I used to try a rooting hormone, but it never worked then I found out it was a anti-fungicide. Sometimes I put them in water for a week or two to see if they will grow. My best cuttings are always planted straight into some good old potting compost! Patience my friend!

Hi,
The tree is doing great. I expect to do a follow up video later in the summer to show the results. Trimming can be heart-wrenching, but it has just about always turned out for the better. Trimming really helps keep your tree healthy. (I posted a new viedo recently (May, 2008- showing traditional bonsai at the Morikami Museum. It’s just a silent look at their trees, but it is inspiring).

Hi,
It’s spelled, “sphagnum moss”. I just placed an order with a company I found by googling “spagnum moss.” You can order large bales there. Otherwise, local garden shops should have small hobby size bags.
