How to Bonzai a Plant?

Posted on June 27th, 2009 by Jon Brown in bonzai tree |

I have just heard of bonzai-ing a tree ( I know that is not the correct grammar). I want to try to do it to a lemon tree. Can I do that? How should I do that?

By pruning 1/3 of the roots and branches, restricting growth. Here's more: http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=bonsai+techniques&ygmasrchbtn=web+search&fr=ush-ans

Bonsai is one of those hobbies that looks so cute and easy but in fact is pretty darn difficult. The tree is kept small by reducing its roots but when you reduce the roots and put it in a small pot you have to look after it real closely because its moisture uptake and feeding requirements become unstable due to the small amount of soil.

Check out the websites, read the books, but most importantly see if there is a local bonsai group in your area who will give you some direct advice.

it is a very very difficult art and must be studied, i bonsai and have for years but would never try to start one. and i'm pretty sure you could with a lemon tree but it would never fruit. i have one that flowers but it looks wierd because the flowers are regular size, those don't miniature. my suggestion is get a few books and start reading. i can take years to get a bonsai started but it is very rewarding if you are persistant
