If you go on ebay, there are books for sale all info on bonsai, I was looking at them the otherday, quite cheap. Just type in bonsai under book section. It is a specialist tree so well worth finding out.

Bonsai is the art of miniaturization. If you are starting from seed use a seed starting or germination mix. This will provide enough nutrients for the young seedling. Typically when it comes to growing bonsai you want to use about 1/4 of the recommended dosage of the fertilizer (remember the point is to keep it small) and many bonsai specialty stores have very specific fertilizers you can use safely.
